I wasn't quite sure whether to upload this or not.
This is one of my university projects for studio. The brief asked us to analyse and research the history of a Persian carpet, then develop 2D and 3D models that best described our response to the object.
My concept was transition, based upon the fact that Persian carpets are inspired by the Islamic paradise gardens (look them up, they are really beautiful). I chose a very literal way to represent this concept, by building a garden that slowly fades into a woven carpet.
This 3D component is made entirely from paper and a small amount of cardboard, using folding and shaping to form the animals, trees, and flowers. I don't have any photos of the 2D component and I don't have a scanner right now...
I really like papercraft, so I enjoyed doing this one. There are numerous faults I can see, but it was a learning process, and I'll know better next time.
Oh and please excuse the photos, I took them quickly before packing the project up and taking them in to uni.
